Frank LaRose was called "A Reliable Leader for LGBTQ+ Ohioans" and that "He Has Championed LGBTQ+ Equality Within His Caucus and Among His Colleagues." Equality Ohio Scorecard

Frank LaRose has stated “to my friends from Equality Ohio congratulations on 15 years of fighting to make Ohio better and more equal”

In 2011, LaRose voted with Democrats against the motion for HB 79 which prohibits taxpayer funded abortions to be brought up for third consideration. (HB79)

LaRose Opposed A Heartbeat Bill.

“State Sen. Frank LaRose fits the description of a reliable opponent of abortion. The Copley Township Republican does oppose the "heartbeat" bill, which would bar an abortion once a fetal heartbeat can be detected. He has argued reasonably that such a requirement would not pass constitutional muster. Even Ohio Right to Life has agreed, reflecting the rulings of the U.S. Supreme Court, permitting regulation of abortion as long as women do not face an undue burden in exercising their right.” (“LOOKS PERSONAL; OHIO RIGHT TO LIFE REJECTS FRANK LAROSE, AND NOT FOR A GOOD REASON,” Akron Beacon Journal, 3/16/14)

LaRose Said He Supported Funding For Planned Parenthood.

LaRose said he opposes taxpayer funded abortions but that he supports funding for other services provided by planned parenthood. “Davenport, saying life begins at conception, said he would support a ban on all abortions because "I believe God is the giver of life and only God can take life." Ohio Right to Life, which has endorsed Davenport, says LaRose supports public funding of abortion provider Planned Parenthood. LaRose, who said he opposes abortion except to save the mother's life and in pregnancies resulting from rape, said he is against public funding of abortion. He said he voted to effectively deny public money to Planned Parenthood by placing it at the bottom of the list to receive federal family planning funds. He does not oppose public funding of other health services that Planned Parenthood provides to women if no one else locally is providing them.” (Robert Wang, “Larose has competition for senate seat,” The Repository, 4/16/14)
